An article in The Independent this week suggests that the recent timber boom in Britain, is thanks in part to forward planning, made back in the 1960’s. Some of the current timber supplies which are available in the British market today, are said to be from Conifer trees which were planted as part of a sowing period 50 years ago.
According to the article, statistics released by Forestry Commission this year suggest that the trees which have now reached maturity, have helped to produce 12 million tonnes worth of timber supplies in 2014 alone. Most of the timber produced from these Conifer trees, is used in the construction of homes, garden furniture and fencing, amongst other applications.
