Role Overview

We are looking for an experienced, proactive and results-driven External Sales Representative to join our team. This role is primarily field based with two office days per week on average. You will play a key role in identifying and securing new business, building strong relationships, and driving sales growth. In addition, you’ll help develop existing customer accounts and support the rest of the sales team.

Key Responsibilities

  • New Business Development: Proactively research, identify and establish new business relationships.
  • Account Management: Build, maintain, and grow existing customer accounts to drive repeat business and upsell products.
  • Lead Generation: Identify potential new customers, generate leads, and convert them into sales opportunities.
  • Product Knowledge: Develop a strong understanding of our products and services to effectively communicate benefits and features to customers.
  • Market & Competitor Awareness: Monitor market trends, competitor activity, and customer needs, to help shape and refine sales strategies.

Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in a sales role within the timber industry.
  • A strong understanding of timber products, capable of providing advice for bespoke tailored solutions.
  • Strong communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently, identify opportunities, and close deals.
  • Ability to work well within a team and assist in different areas when necessary.
  • Familiarity with IT systems and sales reporting.
  • Familiarity with basic Microsoft applications such as Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • UK Driver’s License.
